In my last post I spoke of making a business plan, an essential step for a money making business.
However important it is to create a cash flow from a business venture, it is equally important to actually provide a product or service of value. Many professional business consultants will tell you the latter dictates the former.
Small Business Internet Marketing is all about creating value.
There are some lessons to be learned from this afore-mentioned ethic but one stands above them all and it’s what I am going to spout-off about now!
And again I am assuming we are all talking about an online business!
Rule #1
- CONTENT RULES!
If you fill your blog, website, or newsletter with pitches and ads of “stuff” that has no other purpose than to make money for you, then your market will quickly recognize you and steer away.
Now don’t get me wrong! You can still make money and any audience understands that you need to make a living, but you have to provide value. You can do this by creating unique marketing ideas that will differentiate you from the crowd!
Providing content that is original, well-written, and well-researched will build trust with your target audience. If you build trust, your audience will spend their time and money because they believe in you and your content! It’s up to you not to abuse that position of trust.
If you really want to make money online, the content that you deliver will dictate the trust you build. The trust that you build with the people that visit your site will enable you to attract traffic. You may be scratching your head, but I will write about how this works in my next post.
