It’s 2009 and I am going to start to build blog traffic to this little web log in cyberspace. So how important is Google when it comes to building traffic.
I started this blog less than a month ago, December 14,2008, and I have pontificated on a couple of topics which I will say are basic to to the success of any publication.
I’ve talked about the importance of creating content on your blog that shows your reader you are sincere so they will trust you. As Martha would say: “It’s a good thing!”
I’ve also said that you are a both a Publisher and an Entrepreneur so be ethical, honest, and Make Money! You owe it to yourself and your readers.
My assertion that these universal truths will build traffic is really only half the story. However, they are important and as you increase your traffic you will understand why they are important.
When it comes right down to it, creating a website, or a blog, that gets enough traffic to make money online has a lot to do with your initial decisions about your niche or theme.
I believe you can pretty well monetize any topic if you know what you’re doing. Many people will disagree with that and I say, too bad for them! I bet you could monetize dog shit if you went about it the right way.
As a matter of fact, It might not be a bad idea… a joke!
Anyway! Getting back to the drift here.
Most people that have a desire to create a site, already have a theme in-mind and are trying to figure out how to put it all together. So where do you start?
There is only one way to start and that is to do research on your topic, niche, theme, or pitch to see if it has the potential to make enough money to satisfy your requirements. Yes! Your requirements. Not some other persons requirements.
Some of us want to sell las vegas real estate or talk about their favorite guitar and could care-less about making any more money than is necessary to pay to run the site. So get-er-done-son! Take a few snaps, pop-em up there and blog away. Maybe you can sell strings, or custom ring tones… Who knows!
But if you are serious about earning a living online, you need to do some serious research and there is only one place to start. Yes, One! Google, The Big G.
Yes! Google is the one and only place to start your initial research. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. They would be full of it! If you want to make money on the internet you must start your research with Google! Did you get that? Most likely NOT!
Let me be precise!
STEP #1 – Research Google
For the moment, forget your theme. Don’t think about what you want to write about. Don’t even think about what you would like to do with your website, your blog, your email, or your pitch page, or anything else except Understanding Everything About Google.
Most people using the internet don’t know how to perform a basic search and certainly don’t know the difference between a search engine and a directory. If you are going to be successful you need to understand everything you can do with Google.
Learn how people search the Internet for the things they want.

Investigate every link in the classic front page and understand every search function. Play around in there and find out all they do. Believe me, you will find so many things you didn’t know about.
I am sure most people that are just trying to figure out how to make cash on the web have never even checked out the most basic of links on G. Click on the About Google Link and see for yourself.

I know there are some of you who may be checking out this blog thinking: Hey, WTF does this guy know? I have been making money online and I already know G pretty good! I say maybe, maybe not. If you make enough dough on the Internet why are you reading this? Go prosecute your plan, man!
If you look around online for resources that will help you get more traffic to your site, you have to start with the search engine that handles the MOST traffic. And guess who that is?
Start your research there and learn how you can use Google to the max! I can’t emphasize enough how important it is. I’ll post a few tips in the next post about using G for researching your niche and site ideas. Learn how to use the beast! It will Pay-off in the long-run!
Stay Tuned
